By Car

(NOTE: We share the estate of Steepletop with the Millay Society, a separate organization unrelated to the artist residency, which also located on East Hill Road a short distance from the Barn and Main House.)

From points east and north: Take Interstate 90 to Exit B3 on the New York side. From the exit ramp, take Route 22 heading south for approx. 4 miles (approx. 3 minutes). You will see a brown sign for Steepletop on your right. Turn left at the sign onto East Hill Road. If you miss that turn, East Hill Road makes a U back onto Route 22, with its other entrance just over two miles South on Rt. 22. This entrance is at the Austerlitz Post Office, just below Rt. 203. From the first turn off, the Colony is 1/2 mile up East Hill Road, from the second turn onto East Hill Road, the Colony is 2 miles up the road.

From New York City and points south: Take the Taconic Parkway 2 ½ hours north to Chatham/Route 203 exit. Turn left off the exit ramp onto Route 203 (going east, away from Chatham), and follow 203 for approximately 7 miles to its end. Turn right (south) onto Route 22 and take the next left (appearing almost immediately) onto East Hill Road. The Austerlitz Post Office is on the corner. Follow East Hill road for 2 miles to get to Millay Arts on your right.

Finding us upon arrival: You will see a cluster of white buildings, including a large white barn on the right. Drive past the Barn to the next driveway and turn right at the Millay Arts sign. At the end of the driveway is the one story structure which is the Main Building as well as administrative office.

By Train

Amtrak has numerous daily trains stopping at Hudson, New York. The trains leave Penn Station for Hudson (and heading on to Albany) starting at 7:15 AM. The last train leaves Hudson for New York at 7:40 in the evening. Prices vary with times, but average $50 each way.

Millay Arts is half an hour from the Hudson train station. There are several taxi services, which can take you to the Colony from the train station. We can help you book a taxi. The fare is approximately $50.
